NOWPayments Top-Up And Invoices
SteadyEdge uses NOWPayments for crypto balance top-ups and for direct crypto subscription charges. The important part is understanding what gets credited, what stays pending, and what does not activate automatically.
What this is
This article explains how the NOWPayments flow works, what happens after you create a payment, and how invoice states relate to subscription activation.
When to use it
Use this article if:
- you want to add funds to your internal balance
- you want to pay for a plan through a crypto charge
- you need to understand pending, paid, underpaid, or failed invoice states
Before you start
Keep these rules in mind:
- if you need a NOWPayments account, create it through the SteadyEdge referral link: Create a NOWPayments account
- you must send funds on the exact network shown in the payment flow
- the product input accepts values from 0.01 to 10000 USD
- the selected payment method can still have its own higher provider minimum
- the UI shows the provider minimum for the chosen currency when available
- some environments may not have NOWPayments configured at all
Step by step
Step 1: Open the top-up flow
Go to Dashboard -> Profile -> Billing and open Top Up .
If you try to subscribe from balance and funds are missing, the billing flow can also open the top-up modal with the required amount prefilled.
Step 2: Choose asset and network carefully
Inside the modal:
- Search for the asset.
- Select the correct network.
- Enter the USD amount.
- Create the payment.
The asset and network choice matters more than the coin brand alone. Wrong-network USDT is still the wrong payment.
Step 3: Use the generated payment details exactly
After the payment is created, the modal shows:
- a QR code
- the payment address
- the exact crypto amount
- the pay currency
Send the exact amount to the exact address on the exact network.
Step 4: Wait for confirmation
Creating a payment does not credit your balance immediately. Your balance changes only after NOWPayments confirms the payment and SteadyEdge processes the callback.
If NOWPayments is temporarily unavailable in your environment, the payment flow may fail before payment details are generated.
Step 5: Understand invoice behavior
Subscription charges create invoice records with statuses such as:
- pending
- paid
- underpaid
- failed
Important payment behavior:
- paid top-ups credit available balance
- paid subscription charges activate or renew the subscription
- underpaid subscription invoices do not activate the subscription automatically
Step 6: Know the difference between top-up and direct plan charge
The current payment surfaces differ:
- Top-up adds funds to available balance after confirmation
- Direct subscription charge creates a subscription invoice
- Subscribe from balance uses existing available balance and does not create a new crypto payment
What you should see
A healthy payment flow shows:
- the correct selected asset and network
- a generated address and QR code
- a pending payment state first
- a balance or invoice status change after confirmation
Common mistakes
- sending funds on the wrong network
- sending less than the exact requested amount
- reusing an old payment instead of creating a fresh one when in doubt
- expecting balance to update before confirmation is processed
- confusing a balance top-up with a subscription invoice
